Euro Cylinders

B&B Locksmiths supplies, fits, repairs, and replaces euro cylinder locks for uPVC, composite, aluminium, and some timber doors across Oxford and Oxfordshire. Whether your key is difficult to turn, the cylinder is worn or faulty, your keys have been lost or stolen, or you would like to upgrade to a high-security anti-snap cylinder, we can assess your existing lock, recommend a suitable option, and fit it correctly.

Euro cylinders are among the most common lock cylinders fitted to modern doors. The cylinder is the part of the lock into which the key is inserted and is commonly used with multipoint locking systems on uPVC and composite doors.

Choosing the correct euro cylinder is important. It must be the correct length and configuration for the door and handle set. A poorly fitted or oversized cylinder may reduce security and leave the lock more vulnerable to attack. A correctly fitted cylinder should sit neatly within the door furniture, operate smoothly, and work properly with the existing locking mechanism.

Common types of euro cylinder include:

  • Double cylinders operated by a key from both sides

  • Key-and-thumbturn cylinders

  • Single cylinders

  • Keyed-alike cylinders

  • High-security anti-snap cylinders

Depending on the product and its certification, higher-security cylinders may provide additional resistance to snapping, picking, drilling, bumping, and other recognised methods of attack.

A euro cylinder may need to be repaired or replaced if:

  • Keys have been lost or stolen

  • The key has become difficult to turn

  • The cylinder has become worn, damaged, or faulty

  • The property has changed ownership or occupancy

  • Improved security is required

  • The property has experienced a break-in or attempted break-in

For improved security on uPVC and composite doors, many customers choose anti-snap cylinders. The most suitable option will depend on the door, handles, locking mechanism, level of risk, and any applicable insurance requirements.

B&B Locksmiths can measure the existing cylinder, supply and fit a suitable replacement, check that it operates correctly with the handles and multipoint locking mechanism, and advise whether a standard replacement or security upgrade is appropriate.
