Are your Locks Insurance Approved?

What is BS3621?

BS3621 is a lock standard set by the British Standards Institution (BSI) for thief-resistant locks.
Locks that meet the BS3621 standard are commonly fitted to front and back doors of residential properties, offering a reliable level of security.

Many insurance companies require door locks to comply with BS3621 to ensure that your property is adequately protected.

How to tell your locks are BS3621?

  • Method 1: Look for the British Standard Kitemark engraved on the lock.

  • Method 2: Look for the British Standard number (BS3621) stamped on the lock faceplate.

To check if your front or back door locks conform to BS3621, look for the British Standard Kitemark (BSI) on the lock’s faceplate.

The faceplate is visible when the door is open, and you should see the standard number—such as BS3621—stamped directly on it.
